In short

In our data, the cheapest Medellín stays rated 4.0 or higher start at about 15 to 19 euros a night for two guests (Rock Hostel Medellín, Purple Monkey Hostel, Bakú Laureles Hostel).

Medellín once had a reputation for violence, and the city knows that history well. Today it is better known for something else: a transformation in which public transport, libraries, parks and art were used to connect neighbourhoods. In Comuna 13, a hillside district, outdoor escalators carry people up the slope, and the walls are covered in murals. Locals now tell this story themselves, and visitors can learn from it with respect.
