New York is the most expensive city in our data. In Manhattan, a good hotel easily costs several hundred euros a night. The trick is to sleep where New Yorkers do: in Queens, Brooklyn or across the river in New Jersey, a subway or train ride from Midtown. Every one of the cheapest well-rated stays in our data is outside Manhattan, from about 118 euros a night. And many of the best things in the city are free: Central Park, the Brooklyn Bridge, the High Line and the Staten Island Ferry past the Statue of Liberty.
